Audre Lorde's Transnational Legacies
Based on PBS KIDS' extensive research into how children learn, Side by Side is designed to help preschoolers develop the critical "4C" skills: Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical tThinking.

Side by Side: Which Do You Like is an oversized board book, designed to be held between two little laps--in order to get preschoolers working and talking together in school, at home, on a playdate. Each spread features four choices (i.e. "It's time for lunch! Do you want pizza, pancakes, pasta, or a sandwich?") Each child makes a choice, lifts his or her flap, and is then faced with 4 more choices. (Do you like pizza plain with cheese? pepperoni? peppers? or with lollipops?) They discuss, choose again, laugh at the silly option--and are encouraged to suggest more choices. The book has minimal text so once kids understand the idea, they can read it with or without a grownup's guidance.
