Overview

This audio companion to the TV special (and now video) of the same name is a can't-miss kid pleaser that will hook parental ears as well. Tot-wise, it's a Sesame Street album; say no more. But for pop-loving moms and dads, it's studded with superstars from the recording world, performing with and without Kermit and the rest of the "Sesame Street" crew. Überdiva Celine Dion chirps "Happy To Meet You" with Elmo, Big Bird, and Herry Monster. Songstress Shawn Colvin and Ernie duet on "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon." Rosie O'Donnell and Elmo get down for the rap number "Nearly Missed," while ska-punk act Mighty Mighty Bosstones mix it up with The Count on "Zig Zag Dance." Other stellar guests include R&B luminaries En Vogue and the Fugees, good-time king Jimmy Buffet, and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, who single handedly takes on Oscar the Grouch's theme song "I Love Trash." Of course, this being a "Sesame Street" record, there's an educational element, mostly of a socialization and self-esteem stripe (e.g. the Fugees' "Just Happy to Be Me.") Mostly, though, this musicathon is just plain fun, and who said there's anything wrong with that?
