Dazzling Women Designers
Follow the lives and careers of ten women who have made names for themselves in areas of design long dominated by men. In the early 1900s, UK furniture designer Eileen Gray was at the forefront of the Art Deco movement and one of the first women to be admitted to the Slade School of Fine Art. American industrial designer Suzanne E. Vanderbilt was one of the first women to do work for General Motors. And Canadian born urban designer Jane Jacobs caused huge controversy in New York with her successful campaign against the Lower Manhattan Expressway in the early 1960s. Other women profiled include US Roboticist Cynthia Breazeal and fashion designers Rita Kumar and Vera Wang.
