What child would not relate to their beloved pet dog through this Spanish book? Fergus after all is only doing what any typical canine would do under the circumstances. He wants to go outside, not come back inside. At times he follows the commands of his master, digs through a garden, has to take a bath, begs for table scraps, and chases cars on the street. All of this does not matter in Fergus's world because he has the love and security of a loving home. This title would be wonderful for bilingual readers who can read both versions of the text. The illustrations are child-friendly and appealing to young and old readers. One cannot help falling in love with the beloved dog Fergus through the straightforward narration. After all, he is sometimes an obedient and loving pet just like many young readers might have in their personal lives.
