Even if you’ve already read these books, I would still recommend listening to the audio version, which unleashes a whole new amazing way to experience Ms. Rowling’s masterpiece of fiction. Actor Jim Dale is so great at getting into each character it’s more like hearing a play than simply listening to a book. (Don’t just take my word for it; he won two Grammy Awards for his work!) Best saved for a long car trip, because once you press play you’ll be hesitant to stop!

The BFG, by Roald Dahl, Quentin Blake, David Walliams
Roald Dahl is one of those genius authors whose work is perfect across all mediums. His stories are wonderful to read, and as a kid I couldn’t put them down, but some have argued they’re even more magical to have read to you. (And of course the big screen adaptations are fabulous as well!) Your young passengers will love following Sophie and the big friendly giant’s adventures, with music and sound effects to add to the whole audio experience.

The Cat and the Hat and Other Dr. Seuss Favorites, by Dr. Seuss
Kelsey Grammer reads The Cat in the Hat, Dustin Hoffman reads Horton Hears a Who, Billy Crystal reads Horton Hatches the Egg, and Ted Danson reads The Lorax, and that’s only the half of this superstar list! Honestly, with this all-star cast, how can you go wrong? The A-List comes out in full force for these classic Dr. Seuss tales, and believe you me, you won’t want to miss a single story.

Superfudge, by Judy Blume
I grew up as one of Judy Blume’s many superfans, and still have my dog-eared paperback copies to prove it. If only I had known she was reading her own audiobooks, I would have died and gone to tween fandom heaven! This book, which picks up where Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing leaves off, is the perfect fun and funny listen for the whole family. Twelve-year old Peter has had it up to here with his family, and when his parents announce a new baby is on the way, and they’re moving to Princeton, we have the makings of a classic Blume novel!
