It’s Always Been You, And it Always Will Be: The Best Books (and more) for Outlander Fans

If you’ve visited your local Barnes & Noble recently, you’ve seen the Entertainment Weekly Ultimate Guide to Outlander edition gracing our newsstands which can only mean one thing: Outlander season is upon us!

Mixing historical fiction, romance, mystery, adventure, and science fiction — did someone say TIME TRAVEL? — into one delicious literary confection, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series has tugged at the heart strings of millions of fans over the past few decades, first with the publication of Outlander in 1992 and, in recent years, making its way to television in 2014.

This November, the long-awaited ninth book in the Outlander series will finally hit the shelves!

Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone is the final  book in Diana Gabaldon’s beloved series, and if you or someone you love is a true fan, you’re going to want to pre-order the book to enter the Ultimate Outlander Sweepstakes. The prizes include a Diana Gabaldon launch event, Sassenach Whisky hip flask, a tartan blanket and more. The sweepstakes ends on November 22. See details and Official Rules here. When we FINALLY get to crack open Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, we’ll be getting the answers to so many unanswered questions that have hung over our heads for the last seven years: Will Lord John Gray stay out of the hands of the American Army? Will Jamie get the man who hurt Claire so long ago? And will the Frasers, the Murrays and the Mackenzies ever just be able to stay at Fraser’s Ridge and live peacefully?

It’s been over a year since our annual visit to Scotland in season five and nothing says the holiday season better than binge-watching a favorite series, so if you were looking for your sign to lose hours of your day in pure bliss before the new season returns in early 2022, this is it. Seasons 1-5 are calling! While you’re thinking ahead for the holidays, the Outlander 4-Copy Boxed Set paired with The Outlandish Companion (Revised and Updated) and The Outlandish Companion Volume Two would make a great gift for the Diana Gabaldon fan in your life *wink wink*.

In 2020, with Clanlands, our favorite Scottish duo, Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, took us on the road as they toured the beauty of Scotland via camper van, boat, bicycles and … whisky. This month, they’ve teamed up once again for another epic romp through the Scottish countryside with The Clanlands Almanac: Seasonal Stories from Scotland. The B&N Exclusive Edition will feature illustrated endpapers and a ribbon marker – available November 23.

No holiday season would be complete without new books, lively “spirits” and all things Outlander.  Just one question remains: Do we have time to re-read the first eight books before we get our hands on Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone before November 23rd? No matter, je suis prest.
