It’s Alive! Adventures With My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish

There are big brothers, and there are mostly evil big brothers. Tom’s older brother, Mark, seems to have written the book on the mostly evil variety. There is not a method of sabotage or subterfuge that Mark hasn’t tried on his long-suffering sib. When Mark receives a chemistry set for his birthday and devotes his nefarious talents to science, his evil quotient skyrockets. The combination of Mark’s villainy and Tom’s resolution to undermine it produces a reaction that even the most illustrious scientist could never predict, and the zany saga of My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish begins.
Though their mom attributes Mark’s increasing wickedness to his racing “home-moans” (he does gripe and moan at home a lot), Tom is certain that Mark has achieved sadistic siblinghood entirely by his own dogged will. With his trusty white lab coat, tubes of toxic green chemicals, and the requisite “bwahahaha” after every misdeed, Evil Scientist Mark wastes no time setting up his first experiment—steeping an unwitting goldfish in the green goo, then flushing him down the toilet. The fact that Tom heartily objects to this act makes it all the more satisfying for Mark. What could be better than combining his love of fraternal torture with his newfound passion for scientific experimentation?

When the poor, chemical-soaked goldfish goes belly up, Tom and his best pal, Pradeep, who lives next door, rush in to resurrect their finned friend with the jolt of a battery. Suddenly, the fish—whom the boys affectionately name Frankie—springs back to life…or something close to it. Invigorated by his newly acquired zombie strength and agility, not to mention the power of hypnosis and a vendetta against evil scientist big brothers, our piscine protagonist is determined to protect Tom from Mark and his shenanigans.
To complicate matters, there is Sanj, Pradeep’s mostly evil, computer-genius big brother, who has the brains to match Mark’s bravado. Together, Mark and Sanj form a coalition that threatens younger siblings everywhere. Will Tom, Pradeep and Frankie triumph over their brothers’ attempts to take over school and, ultimately, the world? Anything is possible when there’s a big fat zombie goldfish—and a brigade of clever lunch ladies—on your side.

This action-packed tale is the first in a series of adventures starring the brothers and their very special “swishy little fishy.” The hijinks continue in My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish: The Seaquel, when Frankie accompanies the boys on their annual family getaway to Eel Bay, rumored to be the home of the Super Electric Zombie Eel. In My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish: Fins of Fury, a camping trip to Burdock Woods, where a ferocious beast may or may not dwell, brings intrigue to the duo, who later sets out to solve a case of missing paranormal pets.
Throughout their escapades, Tom and Pradeep find proof of a fact that little brothers and sisters the world over have long suspected: sometimes the only thing that can stop a mostly evil older sibling is supernatural intervention. Luckily, it looks like the fish with the electric eyes is here to stay.
