How Do I Talk to My Kids About Death and Grieving?
When it comes to things no one really wants to talk about, death and grieving are often at the top of the list. Very few people want to sit in the uncomfortable realization of our own mortality, especially with kids who are supposed to have a long life ahead of them and shouldn’t have to think about these things. Yet, in the past few years especially, we’ve all had more than our fair share of death and moving forward and knowing how to talk to kids about their grief and the deaths of loved ones can be hard to do. So, I’ve made a list of a few of my favorites to help open those conversations and give some tools to assist you in these tough conversations.

Goodbye Days
By Jeff Zentner
Paperback $13.99
I read this book on a plane not knowing I’d be fighting back tears the whole time, and it was absolutely soul-crushing and heart-rendering in the best of ways. When Carver texted his three best friends to see where they were, the last thing he expected was for that text message to lead to their death. As Carver tries to move forward with the crippling guilt of his part in the accident, he finds that it’s especially hard with the potential for a criminal investigation and the families of his friends asking for a “goodbye day” with Carver to share their memories and say a proper farewell to their kids.
