In a world where everyone knows the date they’re going to die, 17-year-old Denton Little has an early deathdate. The story takes us through the day before and the day of Denton’s deathdate, as he attends his funeral, has a deathday party, and gets in all sorts of Scooby-Doo level hijinks. I know what you’re thinking—a book about a teen who’s about to die doesn’t sound super funny. But trust me, it is in Rubin’s masterful hands. I LOL’ed within the first chapter and continued to be delighted throughout.

Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson #1), by Louise Rennison 
This book may be fifteen years old, but it has stood the test of time as one of the most hilarious laugh-at-inappropriate-times-until-tears-form YAs I’ve ever come across. As you read a year in the life of Georgia Nicolson through her amazing journal entries, you can’t help but laugh at her misadventures with makeup, boys, and snogging. Georgia’s emotions are full of ups and downs, but the book never takes itself too seriously, always making us laugh with Georgia through her troubles. The great news is this is the first in a series, and the rest are equally hilarious.

Team Human, by Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan 
If you love satire and YA paranormal romance, this book is comedic gold. It’s a vampire satire in the post-Twilight era, and the authors poke fun of all our favorite vampire romance tropes in a way only people who really, really love the genre can. Mel, our sarcastic and witty human narrator, is duly horrified when her best friend falls in love with a vampire. And, like any good friend would do, she sets out to prove her best friend’s new crush is up to no good. But don’t worry, this isn’t just satire for satire’s sake—it’s also just a great story about prejudice, with lots of humor and plenty of charm.

52 Reasons to Hate My Father, by Jessica Brody
This book, described as a “comedy of heiresses,” is so much more than just amazingly funny—it’s super moving. Lexington is a spoiled rotten heiress who doesn’t know the meaning of work, yet somehow still manages to be a sympathetic protagonist. Everything about Audrey’s voice and the cast of characters around her is just a master class in hilarity. But it just so happens the song, Audrey, Wait!, has become an actual, honest-to-god hit, and now Audrey must find a way to deal with her newfound fame. Will Grayson, Will Grayson, by John Green and David Levithan
This collaboration between two YA rockstars packs a heavy, laugh-filled punch as it follows two Will Graysons who cross paths with each other one cold Chicago night. At times bittersweet and touching, the story is also filled with humor, especially any time the always hilarious Tiny Cooper enters the scene. The whole novel culminates in Tiny’s epic, autobiographical musical—which was recently turned into a hilarious musical novel, Hold me Closer: The Tiny Cooper Story, complete with amazing lyrics and amusing stage directions.
