Alien Madness
Mix together a dash of venomous envy, large reptilian predators, a were-tiger and secret government forces and you have a light-hearted science-fiction fantasy romp, also know as Larry’s Cosmic Wheel Ranch. Set in the future, on a used car lot, an unlikely mixture of heroes and villains gathers for a mad-capped adventure.
The lot is held together by a cast of dysfunction characters led by no less than Larry’s mysterious ex-con friend and former spy, Ron McKay. Unknown to Larry, Ron is serving out his penitence for rescuing Larry’s father during a mission for the government.
Using a small horde of illegal insect-like nano-bots, Ron keeps tabs on Hillary Zane, the villainous neighbor, and her clan. The spy-bots tip Ron off to Hillary’s latest endeavor to close Larry down using allegations of a toxic site. Ron further discovers Hillary has possession of a strange alien box; a box that seems to have hypnotic powers that hold Hillary spell bound.
While Ron plans his next move a trio of aliens land on New Argyll. The Gatori, a fierce warrior race, bent on invading human space, but have been sent to find and take possession of the mysterious box. In a whirlwind of converging plots, Ron, aided by his former partner and a love sick young woman, decide to confiscate the box at the same time the aliens decide to make their move.
What ensues is a small invasion when the aliens grab the box and their ship is disabled in a fire fight marooning two of their crew. Meanwhile, Larry is falling for a young woman named Susan. Unknown to him, Susan is a changeling, a were-tiger. As they come back early from a date all hell breaks loose around the car lot.
Two of the aliens are killed in the melee and the other crew members, with the box in hand, try to escape. Their ship is destroyed and they take up hiding along the coast until they can be rescued. Meanwhile, Ron and company are given a chance to redeem themselves by finding the aliens.
The book concludes when Ron and his confederates guide the local military to the alien’s hideout. Just as the cavalry is coming to the rescue, to capture the aliens and take this mysterious box, a third player shows up--a dragon. A showdown takes place as everyone converges around the aliens and the box. Alien Madness is 85,468 words.
