MAJI: The untold adventure of the men from the East (Expanded Edition)
It is 4 BC in a time when local laws and customs governed a man's course in life. But it is also a time of change as more and more men seek to conquer new lands and travel the trade routes to distant places.
Zebedeo of Tayma is a young man with dreams beyond his simple country life with a father Majid who insists that he follow in his footsteps by learning the ways of his ancestors, the great Zoroastrians and counselors to Kings. But Zebedeo has other plans; plans that involve his mentor, the warrior priest Balthazar.
Zebedeo and Majid are soon joined by Balthazar of Babylon and Liu Shang of China as they witness the strange activity of a prophetic star known and the King Star, signifying a dynastic change in the nearby kingdom that could possibly impact the entire world.
The men embark on a journey to Jerusalem to visit Majid's brother Gaspar a wealthy counselor and treasurer to King Herod the Great. But their journey is sidetracked by a band of bloodthirsty thieves led by the nefarious Kahim Rajim who threatens to rob them of their valuables and murder them at a rocky pass.
After a vicious encounter, Balthazar and Zebedeo lead the caravan of the Maji to Jerusalem. In Jerusalem Zebedeo is approached by begging waifs near the roadside and enraptured by the delicate beauty of Rhia, a poor girl who shelters and cares for her orphaned siblings.
Learning that Rhia has been abused and threatened by the treacherous Captain of the Guard Severo, Zebedeo makes it his personal mission to protect the young orphan girl and her siblings. In doing so, Zebedeo puts not only himself in danger but also the entire mission of the Ma-ji - to find and protect the newborn child king.
As Herod the Great learns of the Ma-ji's mission, he plots to destroy the child king and execute the Maji for treason with the help of Captain Severo and his league of elite guards.
Zebedeo must chose between protecting the future king from Herod’s butchers or save the orphan children and the young girl that he loves.
