In the quiet of predawn a squad of German soldiers, commandoes, slip across the border with Soviet Russia. Their mission is to seize and hold a vital bridge for Army Group North. Following the successful first day of Operation Barbarossa the troops are thrown into one hot spot after another as the race toward Leningrad. Along the way they encounter not only the tough resistance of the Red Army, but creatures of the night.
