About the Author

Mark Letzer is a historian specializing in the study of eighteenth-century Maryland silver. A direct descendant of William Faris, he has spent several years researching Faris's life and diary. Jean B. Russo received her Ph.D. in colonial history from Johns Hopkins University. She is the associate general editor of the Archives of Maryland Online, and historian for Historic Annapolis Foundation.
