3.1 - A Wicked Good Idea

A rags to riches story written by mother and daughter entrepreneurs, Tracey Noonan and Dani Vilagie.

“When I called my dad and asked him how to start a cake business, he said, ‘sell a cake.’ Best advice I ever got. Now when people ask me how to start a business, I can say, ‘sell something and read A Wicked Good Idea.’
There's a million ways to become an entrepreneur and a billion mistakes to make. Tracey Noonan takes you on that journey with all its ups and downs. A Wicked Good Idea is an inspirational journey by a team who has walked the path and lived to tell the tale.” Chef Duff Goldman, Owner of Charm City Cakes, http://www.charmcitycakes.com/.

“In this delightful, easy to read book, author and creator of Wicked Good Cupcakes, Tracey Noonan, confides about her roller coaster life and how she started a mega successful business with her daughter Dani. Along the way, she dishes out inspirational bits of wisdom and information. A resilient, hard working woman of integrity, she does not sugar coat entrepreneurship, but does encourage and guide the reader that may want to delve into the business world. Involvement with the Shark Tank show and a subsequent deal with Canadian businessman, Kevin O'Leary, is the highlight of the story and Noonan gives a behind the scenes look at that experience. An interesting read and very informative for an aspiring business owner.” Francesca Hawkins, Co-owner Farndale Farms and Hawkins Lumber, Pembroke, Ontario, Canada.

About the Author

Tracey Noonan and daughter, Dani Vilagie, are the co-founders of Wicked Good Cupcakes, Inc. Their business literally grew from their South Shore home kitchen to a nationally-recognized, multi-million-dollar brand after an appearance on ABC’s Shark Tank and subsequent deal with Shark, Kevin O’Leary. Now CEO of WGC, Tracey is responsible for new product development as well as collaborating on all social media content, copy writing and initiating co-branding opportunities. Tracey has also been very involved in mentoring through Babson College’s WIN lab for female MBA candidates in Boston, as well as sharing her story through various public speaking engagements. Along with daughter Dani, she is invested in animal welfare and in supporting our U.S. troops. Recognized as a semi-finalist in the 2015 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition, Tracey is proud of the success of WGC and most proud of the fact that she has been able to share this journey with her family. In her off time, Tracey enjoys playing her drums, vocal lessons, and writing screenplays. She has three Boston Terriers and lives at home with husband Scott, her parents Ed and Judy, as well as her in-laws Joyce and Gerry. Tracey's daughter and co-author of A Wicked Good Idea: Dani “Danger” Vilagie and her mother Tracey Noonan are the co-founders of Wicked Good Cupcakes. Together they have achieved the American Dream with the help of their family, the support of their community and their dedicated staff. These days, Dani stays very busy as Director of Operations at WGC while also living a full, crazy life with her wicked hot husband Brian, their two cats and two dogs, and a bunch of four-wheelers. When she’s not getting a new tattoo or dying her hair, Vilagie is out and about with mud in her tires or bingeing on Bob’s Burgers. And yes – Danger is Dani’s legal middle name. She made the addition after she was married.
