Story Honey, We Shoulda' Bought The Ark
Honey, We Shoulda' Bought the Ark follows a man's major adjustment from an urban to rural lifestyle and his development of a much deeper love for animals, both domestic and wild. This change of life is supported by the loving encouragement of his wife, a true animal lover who can "talk with the animals" without even uttering a word. The book is a compilation of stories about many of these animals, including horses, dogs, cats, a variety of birds and even a few of the wild creatures which frequently visit. Many of the animals have a background of neglect and abuse and have been given a home provided they honor one important rule: they learn to live in harmony with the other animal and human occupants. The stories include touches of humor, love, sadness and even common sense lessons in life that animals teach us daily. The stories are told just as they happened and they acknowledge mankind's God-given responsibility for dominion over all living things in a compassionate and humane manner. The rural setting, the author's homestead in rural Florida, truly is a landlocked Ark for animals amidst farmland, woodland and the swamps that are common in the area. It is ongoing, with changes of occupants occurring as nature dictates. Welcome to the Ark!

About the Author

Retired from business and military life, James Dick now lives with his wife and animals in rural North Florida. His days as a youngster spent on North Carolina's beautiful Outer Banks each summer developed in him a genuine love for nature and animals. Later in life after serving as a military officer, he embarked on a career in environmental management where he devoted his efforts to making life better by keeping our country beautiful. He supported the concept of responsible development and growth while taking into account the importance of keeping the land beautiful for our children as well. In his retirement years he has embarked on a second career of writing about animals, including the human element, and how they master the circumstances they are given while showing the importance and evidence of God's power and love.
