About the Author

John Carroll has long been a fan of street rods, especially rods based on the 1932 Ford. He has also written extensively on American automotive specialties, including choppers, Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles, Jeeps and tractors, collaborating with photographer Garry Stuart on many of these projects.Garry Stuart has been photographing cars and motorcycles professionally for 20 years, and his pictures have appeared in magazines and books throughout the world. He has met many interesting characters along the way, and has listened to their stories with interest. Much of this anecdotal material, gathered when he was taking these pictures, was personally related to him by Californian hot-rodders themselves and appears in the latter part of this book.

Garry Stuart has been professionally photographing motorcycles for 20 years, and his work has been published in books and magazines on motorcycles worldwide. His main interest is to document the world of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and their riders, and for this purpose he attends rallies and events all over the USA and Europe.

His photographs have illustrated over a dozen books on the subject of Harley-Davidson, and examples of his current work can be viewed on his website www.harleypics.com.
