Conservatism has been stereotyped for years as the political ideology of the old, white, straight, male that hates diversity and revels in hating anyone different from themselves. As a conservative who also happens to be a lesbian, the author knew that this just wasn't true. So she set out to write a book that would showcase the diversity of conservatism and clear up a few misconceptions about conservative beliefs, while finding a way to improve outreach to minority demographics.

This view of the Conservatives simply isn't true. Conservatives of every race, gender, faith, and sexual orientation exist and we believe in conservative principles just as strongly as any stereotypical Conservative does."
