About the Author

Author, blogger, and writing teacher Darcy Pattison has been published in eight languages. Recent nature books for children include: WISDOM, THE MIDWAY ALBATROSS, first place winner in the Children’s Picture Book category of the 2013 Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards, a Starred Review in Publisher’s Weekly, and a Finalist for the Next-Gen Indie Book Awards, juvenile nonfiction category; DESERT BATHS (Sylvan Dell), an NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Book 2013, and PRAIRIE STORMS (Sylvan Dell).
At one point, Darcy was interested in starting an education resource company, so she was in place to witness the alignment of the Arkansas curriculum to the American Diploma Project. She returned her focus to her writing and publishing career, but as a mother, grandmother, author of children’s books and concerned citizen, she closely watched the implementation of the Common Core. When it became clear that the CCSS would be widely adopted, she purchased the domain
CommonCoreStandards.com, a site she still maintains. Darcy Pattison is the 2007 recipient of Arkansas Governor’s Arts Awards for her work in Children’s Literature.
