Lit comes from the word light. We lit a candle to find our way down the dark hall. Uncle Dave lit the logs in the fireplace.

little

1. When something is little, it is small. My little sister can't walk yet. An ant is little. That is the littlest puppy that I have ever seen. 2. Little also means not very much. Jack drank only a little juice because he wasn't thirsty. Cally used a little red in her painting. We only spent a little time picking apples because it started to rain. littler, littlest.
