Ten Commandments to Reduce Your Workers' Compensation Costs
This book is about much more than just how to reduce workers' compensation costs. It is an excellent review of the history of the workers' compensation program in our society and how it impacts business, employees, and the general welfare of our communities. The book is a lot about the process, with vivid stories about outcomes of specific cases. It should be a must-read for anyone starting any enterprise resulting in the employment of another person. Additionally, the information in this book will be a great review for employees of any existing enterprise who either have responsibility for the actions of others or aspire to assume such duties in the future.

Managing workers' compensation costs should be as important to a company as any other cost. One could argue they are even more important because of the pain and suffering that accompanies such injuries and costs. However, it's not just the very observable medical cost or the disability compensation -- it goes much further. You lose productivity, your and your employees' attention are taken away from the work of your company, and poor handling of injury cases results in poor morale and a diminished reputation of your entire enterprise. The short of it is, nothing good can result from not being on top of this issue at all times!

Bob Crumley is an attorney and a serial entreprenuer, and has been an executive in government and in private businesses. As the founder of a large personal injury law firm that has handled thousands of WC cases against companies, Bob is uniquely positioned to explain to business owners how to keep him and other lawyers out of their business and pocketbook.

I have had over 35 years of progressive experience in human resources, and I have become convinced that when management becomes aware of the issues Bob covers in his book, they immediately are ready to look for improvements. Unfortunately, for some, their awareness doesn't come until they experience a bad injury case to include a huge settlement. For this reason, I highly recommend you read this book now and that you heed Bob's Ten Commandments!"
Bob Warren, Senior Human Resource Officer (Ret.), Sara Lee Corporation, Stedman Corporation

"Bob was my fellow Vistage CEO member for many years. He is brilliant both in business and in law and always brought tremendous wisdom and advice to the group. He is a subject matter expert and has a wealth of knowledge to share with others. When Bob speaks, you will want to listen!"

About the Author

Bob Crumley is best described as a serial entrepreneur. A licensed attorney, real estate broker, and private pilot, Bob's business interests are as varied as his personal ones.

Graduated from Appalachian State University in 1977, Bob entered law school at Wake Forest University at the age of 20. Upon graduation in 1980, he became the youngest licensed lawyer in North Carolina. Since law school, he has worked in banking, government, textiles, human resource consulting, and law, and has numerous business start-ups, some of which were successful, some not.

But in 1989, with $3,500 borrowed from a bank, Bob started what has become the largest consumer law firm in North Carolina. From a single office, the firm now has 16 offices with about 130 employees.

He has also started a successful real estate development company as well as a music publishing and recording company in Music City, Nashville, Tennessee.

Involved in the community, he has served as a member of numerous local and regional boards. He has also served on a statewide leadership board, a statewide licensing board, and as co-chair of a statewide commission.

Bob has spoken on business development and success principles across the U.S. and internationally to groups as diverse as lawyers, insurance agents, college students, and doctors. He is married to Teresa for more than 30 years and has two adult daughters and one grandson. For fun, he likes to hunt, fish, fly his plane, and write songs.
