When listening to this audio, the narrator’s animated voice perfectly matches the flow of the storyline and dialogue between characters. This is a suspenseful story about two boys, Hector and Mando, from East Los Angeles. A place “where the rows of houses were cramped and the cars often parked on the sidewalk. Graffiti slashed across walls. Liter blew across streets and broken wine bottles glitter in the gutter…pastry sweet in the air, but a sickening smell after a while.” The boys are off to visit their Uncle Julio in Frenso. From airplanes high in the sky, Julio takes photographs of farmlands for his job. But when Hector and Mando accompanied Uncle Julio during one of his jobs, they unexpectedly become eyewitnesses to a robbery. The robbers, Freddy and Huey, soon are aware of the boys’ discovery when a newspaper reporter completes an interview with them about the robbery. When the robbers catch up to the boys’ tracks, they would do anything to make them pay for snitching about the robbery. This audiobook consists of three CDs. Reviewer: Erika Clark; Ages 8 to 12.
