Slices

What do Izzy Kennedy, Scout Bell, and Summer Persimmon Phinne have in common? Lives built on lies...and a mother/daughter bond that can be sliced but never severed.
In Book one-The Stirring, seventeen-year-old Izzy thinks life can’t get much worse after her mother is killed in a tragic accident. Until she discovers she has been betrayed by the person she trusted most. And it’s going to take more than a nose ring, purple hair, and even flirting with promiscuity to survive this family secret.

In Book Two-Saddled, fifteen-year-old Scout and her family are about to lose their legacy. Because of a rodeo accident, she’s already lost her courage and the equestrian passion she and her mother once shared. Taking a backseat to her brother’s clandestine but heroic efforts to save the ranch from foreclosure, Scout suddenly finds herself behind the wheel. But while she struggles to navigate paralyzing memories, her family’s fate hangs in the balance.

In Book Three-In Search of Mallory Rose, twelve-year-old Summer is used to taking care of herself. While other kids brag about medals and blue ribbons, she boasts plenty of street cred. But when an uncle intends to have her mother institutionalized, Summer soon finds nothing could prepare her for life on the lam.

About the Author

D. B. Woodling calls Missouri home where she shares space with her husband, Orphan Annie (a recycled Labrador), Smedley (a wayward Beagle), PJ and Charley (Smedley’s Partners in Grime), a cat named Isadore (The Great White Hunter), and two horses that often whinny their resentment of her Harley Davidson Motorcycle. A novelist for many years, Shannon's Land is definitely a departure from Write Off, the first of her Detective Michael Malone series and her two young adult novels, Slices and The Turning. Although the author once considered psychological and political thrillers her niche, she is contemplating a sequel to this western.
