Uncle Tom's Coonery
Coonery: Acting in such a manner as to perpetuate black stereotypes in society such as music videos solely about cars, women, and money. Blacks are one of the few races that have been oppressed in such a way as to completely separate the race from all connection with its roots.

In 1712 William Lynch, was summoned to the Virginia Colony to advise slave owners on problems they have been having in managing and controlling their slaves. He suggests that they adopt his method consisting of exploiting differences such as age, gender, and skin tone in order to pit slaves against each other. This method, he assures his hosts, will "...control the slaves for at least 300 years."

The effects of these methods are still evident today. Uncle Tom’s Coonery highlights the cost of black exploitation in the media. Many of the things we find funny are reflections of the struggle of African American ancestry.
