CHAPTER 1

I have some news to share with you, To help you understand. I have a boo-boo in my breast. It is called cancer, and ...

It's like a little polka dot

That neither you nor I can see. It's settled in behind my skin And we need to set it free.

Like a butterfly!

I'm going to have some treatments

To help it disappear. I may take a special medicine That could make me lose my hair.

I might look silly for a time With not much on my head, But you and I will try on hats And fancy wigs instead!

Sometimes you might see me cry

'Cause feeling sick is not much fun. But lots of things will make me smile Like ice cream, ladybugs, and sitting in the sun.

I may feel weak and sleepy For a few days here and there, But then I'll get new energy And I'll chase you everywhere!

When all my treatments finally end

And I'm feeling really great, We'll wave good-bye to the breast boo-boo And go on a special date!

Just you and me.

I love you!
