Forward:
The goal of this book is to be an all purpose general exercise conditioning regiment for optimal health by giving the reader information he or she can utilize to achieve and maintain her or his maximum athletic genetic potential, as this provides for optimum health, wellness, and the prevention of disease. Science research and study has determined parameters about the capabilities and limitations of the energy reserves and recuperative abilities of human athletic performance. Principles can be concluded from such parameters and these principles can be translated into guidelines for athletic training to meet the fitness needs of the human body. To that end this book is designed to minimize over-training and maximize benefit for the time and effort invested by offering instructions about the proper selection and safe execution of specific exercises of the most advantageous efficacy for the time and effort invested, and guidelines for the optimal range of frequency, intensity, and duration of each of these exercises.
A message from the author:
I wrote this book because I did not want my exercise routines and knowledge of fitness to die with me, because I believe that this would be a significant loss to the public, and a personal tragedy for me. My routines could only be conceived and perfected through 13 years of my teaching exercise classes to the public. I designed these routines by always keeping in mind to do only the exercises that return the most benefit for the time and effort invested. These routines are the “Part B: Weekly and daily exercise routines” of my book. In addition, through 15 years of my enrollment in college physical education classes and diligent research of health and fitness publications I have compiled the “Part A: Exercise Theory: Exercise Parameters, Principles, and Guidelines” section my book that has information immediately applicable to your exercise routines.
My knowledge and practice of exercise routines was acquired through my being a Fitness Instructor for 20 years of teaching exercise classes to the public and through 15 years of my enrollment in college physical education classes and diligent research of health and fitness publications. I designed these routines by always keeping in mind to do only the exercises that return the most benefit for the time and effort invested. In addition, I have compiled the “Part A: Exercise Theory: Exercise Parameters, Principles, and Guidelines” section of this book that has information immediately applicable to your exercise routines, and a Part B of optimal exercise selections and routines to do.
