Don't Go There! Timnah Is Not God's Plan for You
Samson, God's chosen leader for Israel strayed from God's plan for his life and journeyed into Timnah. The tenth and eleventh century BC city of Timnah was occupied by the Philistines who were enemies of God and His people. Because of the riotous living and hatred toward God this city was a forbidden place for the people of Israel. Samson however, traveled into Timnah in pursuit of a woman of the Philistines who pleased his eye. This single incident was not only against the Word and Will of God, his travel and partying in Timnah would cause him to violate his covenant with God, jeopardize the lives of his mother and father, and the loss of his amazing strength a gift from God. Though given many warning signs before going to Timnah, while in the city and after is time there, Samson insisted on his way. This blinding insistence led to his most significant down fall, an involvement in the Valley or Soreck with Delilah the woman who he would give the secret to his God-given strength. This act cost him his life. Don't Go There! Timnah is Not God's Plan for You, shares with its readers the high price one pays when we violate the plan God has for our life. Through the cautionary stories of the lives of many everyday people we will see that our Timnah could be any forbidden place, relationship, activity or other situation that takes off God's path for our lives. These acts or activities could cost not only the loss of blessing but our lives. A stop at the gate of the Timnah in our lives can help us avoid our demise at the hands of the enemy in our Soreck. We all have our Timnahs or will have them. The key is just "Don't Go There!"
