The youngest of the famous comical Wayans family, Shawn and Marlon, make their screenwriting and feature-film acting debuts in this riotous send-up of the heavy-duty films of such African-American auteurs as John Singleton and Boyz N the Hood, and any number of Spike Lee films as it chronicles the exploits of Ashtray, who comes to South Central LA to live with his father, who is just barely older than he is. Ashtray's father provides a great example of how to be irresponsible. Ashtray wanting more from his life than heavy drinking and promiscuity begins hangin' with his cousin Loc Dog. Considered "America's worst nightmare," Dog, a stylish fellow, always carries a veritable munitions dump of Uzis, all color-coordinated to match his sneakers. Dog also has hidden a nuclear warhead for emergency. Dog's gang includes such members as the Africa-loving Preach, who secretly lusts after white women, and Crazy Legs, who dreams of being a dancer even though a drive-by shooting has placed him in a wheelchair. Later Ashtray learns about love from the poetic but promiscuous Daishiki, whose womb is as fertile as her imagination.
