The Magician's Advocate
Jake Stone just left a lucrative, if personally unfulfilling, position at a top Philadelphia law firm to start his own practice. Struggling to build a client base, Jake catches a big break when Harry Davenport strolls through his door. As far as client’s go, Harry is out of this world - he’s smart, charming and extremely talented. He can do things that no one else in the world can do. After all, Harry is an alien.

Stranded and alone on Earth, Harry convinces Jake to apply his own talents to create for Harry a human identity and to devise a way for Harry to earn a (somewhat) legitimate living. Together, they settle on what they hope will be the perfect profession for Harry’s unique abilities: a stage magician.

After that, it isn’t long before Harry’s unmatched talents captivate audiences, and Jake starts to enjoy the parabolic ascent of Harry’s career perhaps a little too much. But even before Jake uproots his own life to further Harry’s aspirations, questions about Harry’s real background – and reasons for being on Earth – begin to emerge: Is Harry as innocent as he claims to be? What is the nature of his relationship with Jake’s beautiful ex-girlfriend Gabi, and how much of a coincidence is it that Gabi re-enters Jake’s life shortly after Harry arrives? What does Harry have to hide?

Despite the host of questions, Jake closes his eyes and plunges into an unfamiliar but exhilarating life in the fast lane. Eventually, though, Harry’s questionable past catches up to him and he is forced to divulge at least some of his shady history to his trusted counsel. Jake soon finds out that he is in deeper than he had ever expected, and he sees no option but to see things to their rightful conclusion.
