Charlie, a large, devilish handsome dog, with thick golden blonde fur and a very waggy brush tail, and Mrs Honey a tiny old lady with white hair and a very kind face live very happily together in Rose cottage in the village of Fydd.

Mrs Honey's sister, Mrs Ransome, invites Mrs Honey and Charlie to stay at her holiday cottage by the sea. But Mrs Ransome hasn't stayed at the cottage for over a year and doesn't know that it is being used by a gang of criminals.

Mrs Honey is in terrible danger. Can Charlie save the day? Perhaps – with help from some friends.
