About the Author

Scott Heim is a writer, originally from Kansas, now living in Boston. He has published three novels: We Disappear (2008); In Awe (1997); and his first, Mysterious Skin (1995), which was later made into a film directed by Gregg Araki and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brady Corbet, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Elisabeth Shue.

Heim has an MA in English from the University of Kansas and an MFA in Writing from Columbia University. He's also an obsessive music fan, and is currently compiling and editing the "First Time I Heard" series of e-books, where musicians and writers tell their personal stories of first hearing an iconic artist or band.
