The Chronicles of Ryan Chase: Apocalypse Interrupted
It's the year 2091. Ryan Chase is a teenager who grew up in the Pacific Northwest with his scientist parents and little sister, Faith Ann. Four years ago, an asteroid struck the planet causing untold deaths and destruction--not to mention suspending the biblical Apocalypse indefinitely. If that weren't enough trouble, Ryan's life takes another turn for the worse when government authorities reassign his family to the Perhentian Archipelago, located far away in Southeast Asia, where his marine biologist mother continues to monitor the effects of radiation on the ocean.
While on a dangerous solo deep dive, Ryan is liquefied and literally sucked into the past (or is it the future) by the Order of Saint Michael, warrior monks and guardians of Tateus Island and the archipelago. Ryan awakens in a church where he converses with a man who looks like Jesus Christ but isn't. Confused and frightened, Ryan escapes the monastery with the help of Martin, the cook, a simple and trusting soul, and flees into the woods.
There, he comes upon a group of teenage bullies known as "Lo-Tekkers" who enforce a low technology code adopted in the "Aftermath." The Lo-Tekkers are just beginning to torture some local boys for violating the code when a mysterious young girl appears and frees them with her "illegal" Hi-Tek bow and arrows. Suddenly, a young French woman dressed in medieval armor also appears and assists the archer in routing the bullies. Thus begins Ryan's training as a knight and the adventure that will require courage and grace as well as the strength of angels and saints, because demonic powers are on the rise...

About the Author

Robert M. Call grew up in the Pacific Northwest after his family moved there from Bountiful, Utah. After graduating from Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, he studied at various local community colleges as well as the University of Washington and Bastyr University, earning degrees in Graphic Design, Diagnostic Ultrasound, and Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He currently practices acupuncture and panels with physicians for independent medical examinations. Robert and his wife, Emmeline, love to travel and have returned to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to visit her family several times. The setting for "The Chronicles of Ryan Chase: Apocalypse Interrupted" is based on a fictionalized version of Malaysia, which Robert named the "Perhentian Archipelago." Robert was greatly influenced by the fantasy writings of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. He also enjoys classic and modern science fiction (especially stories with apocalyptic or dystopian themes) such as H.G. Wells' "Time Machine," Walter M. Miller Jr.'s "A Canticle for Leibowitz," and Suzanne Collins' "Hunger Games" novels. This is Robert's first book.
