Television Toy Stories
"One Man’s Obsession with the Past creates a wave of Nostalgia” -Ron Alexander, The New York Times

"[Ira Gallen is] One of the Industry’s Top Tracers of lost film and Television." - New York Daily News

"These Commercials and Television Shows are a Social History of the way we were over fifty years ago, it’s more then a nostalgia buff can stand.” -Leonard Maltin, Entertainment Tonight

In the 1950s, society was undergoing a transformation. For the first time television was beaming into the homes of over 50 million people. Commercials tempted and teased with everything from the latest household miracle products to cookies, candy, cereal, and something kids found most tantalizing…Toys! Before their very eyes, toys performed cleverly choreographed play to the tune of melodic jingles. Then with squeaky voices aimed at the kitchen, came the inevitable plea,
“I WANT THAT TOY!”

That phrase echoed across the country as the boomer generation lobbied for there parents for those toys, as seen on TV! There are slogans from those companies that still ring through our brains to this day that include "Every boy wants a Remco toy, and so do girls!" or "It’s a Wonderful Toy it' s Ideal!" the bird squawking "'It's Kenner! It’s Fun!" and of course "You can tell it's Mattel It’s Swell!"

Kids took to the controls in battery-operated bliss while experiencing their first objects of ownership experiencing what many believe to be (dare I say) the best toys ever made. Since then, the toys of yesteryear have actually developed another function not listed on the instruction page that is, the power of time travel. Coming face to face with old favorites can flood the mind with images of family and friends, places and events gone by. The hand is once again raised, irresistibly pointing, "I HAD THAT TOY!"

It’s a trip down memory lane for any baby-boomer or fan of toy collecting to enjoy Ira Gallen’s latest E-book covering the world of fifties and sixties toys. On one hand it’s a rare opportunity to read about the history of all these classic toys and the companies that created them. At the same time it’s even more exciting to look at more then 500 photos, ads and illustrations that will excite your toy sensibilities. There’s hours of video links to watch many of the original uncut toy
commercials that Ira has located and restored for boomers to enjoy again.
