Trafficking Untold Stories
The familiar cases in the book include the arrest of Ruth Lorenco in 1999, who was arrested for allegedly selling to prostitution three Malawian girls for $10,000.00 each to a Nigerian curtail. The girls became sex slaves in brothels and were only served by the Dutch police in a sweep up.

Another familiar story in this Book is the case of Richard Hayles in 2002, a British national who was convicted of sodomizing street children. His conviction on three counts of sodomy was upheld by the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal and he was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. The accused person only served 1 year and 6 months of his sentence. He was pardoned by the President and subsequently deported.

This book draws its strength from personal narratives of the trafficked and my personal experience in working with the Malawi Network Against Child Trafficking (MNACT), the Southern Network Against Trafficking and Abuse of Children (SANTAC) and my work as a human rights advocate through the Eye of the Child, an organization which was formed in 1995 to fight against child abuse and lobby for creation of a good environment for the protection and development of the children in Malawi and Southern Africa.
