After The Affair, Re-Membering
I didn't fancy the label "baby momma," so I stole the title "wife." And somehow became a single marred mistress--all at the hands of the men I chose for me.

I wanted to be like the other ladies in the sanctuary who flaunted matrimony. I wanted to be a noble woman walking in God's glory. I wanted to be everything except what I was. But who said what I was--wasn't good enough for me? Had I not despised my loneliness, I would not have compromised my holiness, gave away my loveliness.

But know this: the men of my past are no reflection of the woman who stands above ground today. Do not judge how I chose them when I was love hungry and desperate, flirting with vain hopes. If that woman had not died in the arms of those sweet talkers and false lovers, I wouldn't be alive today.

Today, as this woman, I am my best lover. Though not popular, I am my own happy ending. This is my story.

About the Author

She is daughter to a stoic Haitian father and old-fashioned mother; the fruit of a foreign love but a product of Brooklyn, New York. Emmanuella has been writing for over two decades. Journaling was an escape from the walls caging her in at a young age and became a form of creative therapy and release through her womanhood.

Through the years of documenting her life, she decided to realize her dream of telling other women stories. But first she had to give away hers. She is the humble owner of an indie publishing company, Journal Journey, created to give silent women a voice to powerfully share their lives unashamed and openly.

Today she is a woman becoming more of herself, blessed beyond measure. Emmanuella's motto: Day by day is how I win, has kept her counting and grateful for victories no matter how big or small. She is mother to two, her favorite son and favorite daughter. Because of them she honors her struggles that have put her on her mission to live life well.

Emmanuella holds a bachelors degree in Journalism. She acts as a mentor for Year Up Greater Atlanta and is a member of National Association of Professional Women (NAPW).
