Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was a Serbian American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist who is best known for his contributions to the development of the alternating-current electrical system, which made the universal transmission and distribution of electricity possible. His invention of the induction motor underlies the modern electrical power industry.
