About the Author

William Pettingill was a pastor for 25 years in Wilmington Delaware. He co-founded and served as dean of the Philadelphia School of the Bible and was a member of the editorial staff of the Scofield Reference Bible. He died in 1950.

R.A. Torrey was the first superintendent of the Moody Bible Institute, pastor of the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles, and dean of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (now Biola University). He died in 1928.
