Limited to UK legal terminology, this alphabetically arranged dictionary's two line (e.g., "ab intestato") to full page (e.g., "Adoption Law") entries include a definition and the word's grammar category but exclude its pronunciation. Seventy-four entries refer the reader to one or more websites for additional information; however, the related URL is buried in the introductory paragraph of the appendix's updated "Online Legal Resources" section. The book would have been stronger if the "Writing and Citation Guide" had been moved from the center of the title to the appendix and assigned specific page numbers, the "Online Legal Resources" section included the specific URLs, and the web link URL had been printed in an obvious location at the front of the book. Despite its weak points, the volume's three sections are helpful. "See" and "see also" references abound. Of the 18 contributors, 16 are legal professionals (the others are an MBA and a tax consultant). Changes in this edition include 120 new entries, such as "Clinical Commissioning Groups," "General Anti-Abuse Rule," "Reasonable Adjustment," and "Universal Credit," as well as updated citations to new cases. VERDICT Concentrating on legal terms used in European, international, human rights, and environmental law, this title will be most useful to those in need of jargon-free UK legal terminology. Equally suitable for law students, practicing attorneys, and the general public.
