About the Author


Born in South Africa, Beverley Naidoo grew up under apartheid laws and at 21 was arrested for taking part in the resistance movement. Her first book, Journey to Jo'burg, shed a light on children's struggles under apartheid and won The Other Award in Britain. Also the author of Chain of Fire, No Turning Back, Out of Bounds, and The Other Side of Truth, which won the Carnegie Medal, she lives in Bournemouth, U.K. Piet Grobler grew up on a farm in Limpopo, South Africa. After working as a church minister, he made a career in illustration and now lectures at the University of Worcester. He is the recipient of many international illustration awards, including the IBBY Honours List. His books include The Great Tug of War and Fussy Freya. He lives in Great Malvern, U.K.
