CHAPTER 1

Putting on your DIVA-ness

Are you a D.I.V.A.? Are you a

Devine

Intercessor

Vesting in the

Almighty God?

Or are you using your "Diva-ness" in all the wrong places and for all the wrong reasons? The word Diva means: famous female singer, performer. In Italian "Prima Donna" means "First Lady." Are you a "First Lady" for the Lord? Or are you thinking that you should be first because you are a lady?

The word "intercessor" means coming between, putting time and energy.

Isn't that what we do daily from sunrise to sunset? We come between our children's arguments, we put time and energy into our families, husbands, parents, friends, work, colleagues, church responsibilities, home responsibilities, and the list goes on and on. But are we glorifying the Almighty or are we glorifying ourselves?

The word "vesting" means to take ownership.

Are we allowing the Lord to take ownership of our lives or are we trying to do it ourselves?

Let me inform you my friend, it doesn't work. Let God take control, let God take ownership of your life. Only then will the Holy Spirit manifest itself through you, for you, with you and touch lives around you. Only He will bring you to a different plateau in your walk with Him.

We need to challenge ourselves and look in the mirror and face the factual truth. We are all unique "Divas!" God created the woman to be a multi-tasker. We take care of our homes, husbands, children, shopping, cooking, , fixing boo-boos, fixing teenage broken hearts, our jobs, church, responsibilities, and so much more. Many times when we look in the mirror we look a little disheveled, but none the less a "Diva." We are always under some sort of stress to get things done in a limited time frame.

I recently received the following e-mail titled: True Meaning of Stress. A young lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining stress management to an audience; with a raised glass of water, and everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, "half empty or half full?"..... she fooled them all..... "How heavy is this glass of water?", she inquired with a smile.

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz. She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.

In each case it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "That's the way it is with stress. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."

"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden – holding stress longer and better each time practiced.

So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down.

Don't carry them through the evening and into the night.... Pick them up tomorrow, if you need to.

Whatever burden you're caring right now, Let them down for a moment. Relax. Pick them up later after you've rested. Life is short.

Enjoy it and the now 'supposed' stress that you've conquered!"

As D.I.V.A. s, we need to stand in the gap of our families, church, job responsibilities, and so on. Another good instruction and inspirational words that I received lately read:

1. Pray.

2. Simplify and un-clutter your life.

3. Slow down. Learn to relax during the day.

CHAPTER 2

P.A.T.H.

There is a path that divas need to get on and that is the path to:

Proclaiming

Authority

Through the

Holy Spirit

Are you a Diva on the Path? Ponder on this question and let it sink you're your deepest thoughts and heart. If you are a little uncomfortable with your response you may want to rekindle your "diva-ness" and assess the "path" that you might be aimlessly walking on. Then keep asking yourself-

"Am I a Devine Intercessor Vesting in the Almighty God and am I Proclaiming Authority Through the Holy Spirit?" The response may shock you.

When we open up our hearts and souls to the mighty creator, He will come in, fill your weary spirit with boldness and joy. We need to tell this lost world of God's mighty power. He is still in the miracle making business.

Before my friend Lucy's beloved sister Chloe passed away, she laid hands upon her head and said a prayer over her life and family that still resonates within her.

This was several years ago......

A few nights before this life changing prayer, Chloe asked Lucy to read Ephesians 6:10-20:

"Finally, Brethen, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that he may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore, take unto you the whole armor of God that he may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel. For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly as I ought to speak." As Lucy read that passage, Chloe stood up slowly and started making motions of getting dressed. She had Lucy read it three times as she stood and put on her helmet of salvation, shoes of preparation of the gospel of peace, belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, sword of the Spirit, and the shield of faith.

Chloe had prepared herself, covered in armor-the Lord's armor to fight the greatest battle of all. She had planted her feet on the

Satan tried to attack her body and spirit, but she was ready and armed.

The Lord surrounded that young woman, wife, and mother of a young daughter, fighting the battle of a life time with boldness, vision, guidance, and wisdom. He comforted her as her earthly life was coming to an end, but she had seen her heavenly life and couldn't wait to get there.

Chloe knew that her job here on earth was complete and she could only see with heavenly eyes.

She gave Lucy a word of prophecy.... "The Lord wants to use you to speak to multitudes and touch individuals' lives sharing what He has done in your life."

Throughout the following days, Lucy had seen visions of many people and a figure standing in front of them speaking to them and glorifying God. She thought that it was her sister Chloe that the Lord was preparing. But in reality Chloe was already healed and was preparing to go home with the Lord.

What Chloe said to her sister was from God and He was preparing Lucy to becoming a D.I.V.A. (Devine Intercessor Vesting in the Almighty God). She would be testifying of God's mighty power, His comfort, guidance, wisdom and boldness. Chloe had been speaking and helping individuals that she came in contact with already, giving her testimony how the Lord had healed her. She told the staff at Hospice how she was going to leave their facilities with a smile.

That she did. Chloe left Hospice with a smile and praises to the Lord. The nursing staff were shocked that this young woman was leaving alive because she was battling terminal cancer. Many were crying as they hugged Chloe, while others were verbally praising God. What a testimony!!

Chloe knew that God was in control of her life and her days on earth. Chloe graduated three weeks later, at home peacefully surrounded by her loved ones as she had desired.

The Lord always grants us our hearts' desires.

You see, sometimes we think it's impossible for God to do certain things in our lives because of the fear of the unknown.

Yes, I know that I'm touching a nerve with some of you reading this book, but it's a reality. As humans we are always fearful of the unknown. When we are most vulnerable that's when the Lord uses our vulnerability and gives us boldness to do His job.

The Lord equips us with a spirit of boldness to go forth and Proclaim Authority Through the Holy Spirit.

Cindi McMenamin states in her book: When Women Walk Alone to get ready to go through the seasons of your life grabbing your mat of false expectations and go after the one who holds your life and your plans and your destiny in His hands.

Chloe left a legacy of "D.I.V.A.-ness.

(Devine Intercessor Vesting in the Almighty God) and she was on the right P.A.T.H. (Proclaiming Authority Through the Holy Spirit).

Psalms 62:1-2 states:

"Truly my soul waiteth upon God; from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved."

CHAPTER 3

C.L.O.S.E.R.

Dr. Steve Stephens and Alice Gray state a formula in their book The Worn Out Woman, that I thought was on the right P.A.T.H. to bringing out the D.I.V.A. from within.

The formula is as follows:

Come to Him

Lean on Him

Open your Bible

Surrender your expectations

Eternalize your thoughts

Release everything to God

http://famegary.org/pdf/wms/Indiana%20Conference%20 WMS%20Newsletter%20August.pdf

Dr. Stephens and Alice Gray continue stating that when you come to Him, you are beginning to press closer. That's the difficult part!! We are such prideful individuals that it takes every hair on our head to take that bold step. However, when we do, watch out for there is nothing impossible for God.

He will use us beyond our limits and expectations.

We just have to surrender.

I love the quote from Joni Eareckson Tada:

"When you are leaning on Him, you are pressing closer. The weaker we feel, the harder we lean on God. And the harder we lean, the stronger we grow."

As a teenager I remember reading about Joni Eareckson, a young swimmer and artist with tremendous potential.

She had a close knit Christian family, but just like any other teenage girl, she struggled with her spirit, mind, and body.

Even though she felt this way, God had a plan for Joni's life, He wanted to bring out the Diva within. It took a tragic swimming accident to turn her world literally upside down. The accident left Joni a quadriplegic.

Joni's story touched me to core of my spirit. She inspired me to never give up. I wanted to have Joni's tenacity, courage, vision, and drive. However, be careful what we wish for. I didn't realize that I was going to embark on such a journey.

As my Christian walk took many turns and curves, I kept my eyes on the Lord. Sometimes not even understanding why I was going through those moments.

As I went through my own tragedies in my life, first losing my father, who was my hero, then my husband, who was my rock, and my sister who was my best friend, I too became angry, doubtful, and yes, took pity on myself.

One day while I was having a pity party I happened to pick up one of my Angel's magazines, and there was Joni smiling in front of her easel. I looked into her eyes and asked God to forgive me.

How dare I feel sorry for myself, I should be thanking God for my life, my family, and the many Blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon me. That day I wiped away my tears, put on makeup, got dressed and yes, you got it, I went shopping.

Every step I took I thanked the Lord for giving me the tenacity, the courage, the vision, and the drive that Joni continues to have.

She inspired me as a teenager, and Joni continues to inspire me as an adult, a mom, and a Christian.

It took many years for Joni to finally learn how to draw C.L.O.S.E.R. to God. She might not realize how much of an impact her life's testimony has had on my life and in other individuals lives as well.

Come to Him

Lean on Him

Open your Bible

Surrender your expectations

Eternalize your thoughts

Release everything to God

God wants us to get onto the P.A.T.H.

Proclaim

Authority

Through the

Holy Spirit

Drawing C.L.O.S.E.R. and getting onto the P.A.T.H. allowed Joni to bring out the D.I.V.A. from within, as it would to all who follow.

Devine

Intercessor

Vesting in the

Almighty God

We all need to be a positive inspiration and become a role model for the world that is looking into our lives. Bring the D.I.V.A. out from within and walk C.L.O.S.E.R. on the P.A.T.H., hand in hand with the Lord.

It's amazing what God can do with us when we totally surrender our lives to Him. He will restore our spirit, mind, and body. We are transformed and go beyond our expectations.

"To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified." Isaiah 61:3

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have; for he hath said, I will never leave thee." Hebrew 13:5

"But now thus saith the Lord that created and formed thee—Fear not; for I have redeemed thee. I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee. When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." Isaiah 43:1-2

"Fear not for I am with thee. Be not dismayed, for I am they God. I will Strengthened thee; I will help thee; I will uphold thee the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41:10

"Casting all your cares upon him; for he careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7

"Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things which ye have both learned and received, and heard, and seen in me, do. The God of Peace shall be with you." Philippians 4:8-9

Joni went on to talk to audiences of all ages, sharing her testimony, started painting, and got married. God restored Joni's life and confidence. She was being upheld with the right hand of the Almighty. Her accolades super ceded her expectations. Now, that's what God does when we let him steer our lives. Joni has been an inspiration in my life as I've journeyed through my darkest days.

CHAPTER 4

Stop and Listen

As I shared the Lord's mighty work at a recent women's conference, I was sent fearful, worried, exhausted, searching women to speak to.

They stopped at my table and each one shared their moments of vulnerability through tearful eyes.

One woman in particular shared with me how stripped and exhausted she felt. She was trying to make heads and tails of why she was in the job she was in. While talking to her I felt led to minister to her and remind her that our mighty creator didn't need her help. That she was in that position because God wanted to use her and she was too busy trying to figure it out, having a pity-party, and she wasn't listening to HIS voice.

Another woman stopped at my table and started pouring out her anxieties, fears of her life with me. To my surprise, I retaliated with a word from the Lord.

As I spoke to her I thought: "Prophecy coming to pass!"

I thought of Chloe's words to Lucy before going home to be with the Lord.
