Babies of any species are usually hard to resist. In this early reader that is part of the "See More Readers" series, kids will meet quite a few and glean some interesting facts. We learn that within an hour of birth, foals can walk around, and that baby chicks have no teeth so they swallow tiny stones to help them grind up their food. Cats and dogs are fairly helpless at birth and, like human children, depend on their mothers to nurse and help them learn their way in the world. Baby rabbits are also called fawns and while they are tiny compared to other members of the deer family, protective coloring serves a similar purpose.
