Expressive little faces of multiethnic children peer out at readers accompanied by just one word or phrase on the adjoining page. The girl with her face and lips all puckered up really looks like she has encountered something "yucky!" It is interesting that most of the faces and words represent things that are not necessarily enjoyable. In addition to "yucky," other featured words are "stinky," "uh-oh," and "boo hoo." The book does end on a happy note with a big "yippee!" The bold colors on the textual pages offer opportunities to point out and name the colors.
