About the Author

Shanda LaRamee-Jones is the provincial coordinator of the Read to Me! Nova Scotia Family Literacy Program. She has a passion for supporting early learning and has a master's of education in literacy. She lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with her husband and son.

Carol McDougall is a writer, editor and former librarian for the Canadian Children's Book Centre. She received the Mayor's Award for Cultural Achievement and the Progress Women of Excellence Award for her work in early literacy. She is director of the Read to Me! Nova Scotia Family Literacy program and lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Of course, the babies depicted in this book are going to be adorable, including the young boy in a hat looking out from the cover. The pages fan out, accordion style, so young children do not need to turn a page, but can look from one picture to the next, if the book is set up for them on the floor. The variety of babies should be sufficient enough that young ones will see someone they resemble. When the book is flipped over, we see more than faces. Babies are now engaged in activities—crawling, clapping, drumming, splashing, eating and best of all getting a big kiss from mom.
