About the Author

I have long had an interest in the Vietnam War and the 'Secret War' in Laos. I also like to travel and the two interests merged when I decided to write Back, about the Laotian jungle during the Vietnam War and now, when it is at peace, and when Laos is so firmly on the international backpacker circuit. There is also a Khmer Rouge-related sub-plot in the novel. My Bio photo on this page was taken during one of my many research trips to Laos, after I'd been into the tri-border jungle of Attapeu Province with a UXO Lao team, who were finding mines and bombs from the Vietnam War along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
