About the Author

Nick Bruel is the author and illustrator of the phenomenally successful Bad Kitty series, including the 2012 and 2013 CBC Children's Choice Book Award winners Bad Kitty Meets the Baby and Bad Kitty for President. Kitty, a cat, loves playing her video game for hours and hours. While playing the game, she taps the screen to make the rabbit hop over fences and collect carrots. After five hours of game time, Kitty’s owner insists that she goes out to play, draw a picture, and read a book before she may return to her video game. Kitty, extremely unhappy with the request, has her arms crossed in front of her chest and a dark cloud above her head. There’s no room for negotiation; and all three activities must be completed before she can return to her video game. With a sneer on her face, Kitty proceeds outside to play. The illustrations provide support in showing Kitty’s feelings. On the cover, the title and the picture display Kitty’s ambivalence about playing video games; frantic Kitty reaches out for the game and holds a sign to contradict the title. The book includes stickers that portray different parts of the story. This story is part of the “Bad Kitty” series.
