Birds of Lore: Volume: 01

Follow the exploits of “The Mythologist” as he uses stolen technology to travel time and breach other dimensions in search of creatures that should never have existed. Each entry touches on the origins of a fantasy bird, or the most interesting parts of its history, while the wayward Mythologist deals with them in his reality. Based on a mysterious “found journal” and fully illustrated by talented artists, Birds of Lore is the closest you can get to mythological bird watching (without losing a finger). This modern bird bestiary could be described as a picture book for older readers, a cautionary sci-fi / fairy tale or one of the most unique coffee table art books you'll ever pick up. There is, quite frankly...nothing like it.

About the Author

Ryan Durney is an award-winning, full-time, freelance illustrator focusing on fantasy, children's books, textbook illustration, and educational readers as well as sci-fi, horror and prehistoric subjects, for a range of audiences. He has had paid projects for almost two decades and also been paid to both write and design for picture books, fantasy and educational books. He uses inks, paints and digital techniques to create a unique look. Ryan's favorite review describes his work as "pearlescent." His images are always crossing the line between classic picture books and something that feels altogether new. His most recent series, Birds of Lore mixes medieval and Victorian influences with modern illustrative thinking. http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Lore-Book-Silver-Paperback/dp/098409007X/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1385058411&sr=1-4&keywords=Birds+of+Lore+Book Ryan has been a featured illustrator of over 36 issues of ODYSSEY Magazine (sci-fi for 6th Grade to YA audience), and was recently the sole illustrator chosen for their retrospective collection.
