About the Author

Botho Strauss rose to fame in the 1970s through his work with Peter Stein at Berlin’s Schaubühne theatre and has since garnered numerous international awards and a reputation as Germany’s leading contemporary playwright.
Jeremy Sams’s translations include Les Parents Terribles, Indiscretions, The Miser and Mary Stuart (National Theatre), Figaro’s Wedding, La Bohème, The Magic Flute, Wagner’s Ring Cycle (ENO), The Merry Widow (ROH), The Rehearsal and Becket. He has directed numerous plays at the National Theatre, in the West End and on Broadway, and is a multi-award-winning composer, arranger and musical director.
