About the Author

Allan Barsema
Allan “Al” Barsema knows life from both sides of the fence. Having successfully recovered from an alcohol addiction and a bout with homelessness himself, he is the founder of MPOWR software. He has more than 35 years of leadership and management experience in for-profit and nonprofit organizations. As a social entrepreneur, Allan is also the founder of Carpenter’s Place (www.carpentersplace.org), a nationally recognized nonprofit organization instrumental in the fight against homelessness and poverty. The wholistic and collaborative methodologies and web-based toolsets he developed are currently being used in multiple communities, states, and initiatives helping individuals and families successfully rebuild their lives, as well as helping communities successfully address poverty and related person-centered social issues.
Allan now works as an independent consultant, applying his extensive experience in developing and implementing innovative models that utilize technology and collaboration to the effective delivery of human services. His current interests also center on the mission of mobilizing and coordinating church- and faith-based resources to address individual, family, and community needs.
