About the Author

Raymond Byrne has been Director of Research with the Law Reform Commission since 2003.

Paul McCutcheon BCL, LLM, LLD is Professor of Law at the University of Limerick.

Claire Bruton LLB (Dub), LLM (Lond) is a practising barrister.

Dr Gerard Coffey, BA (UL), LLB (NUI), PhD (NUI), is a lecturer in law at the University of Limerick.
Raymond Byrne has been Director of Research with the Law Reform Commission since 2003. He has also for many years been a member of the lecturing staff in law at Dublin City University. He is co-author of Byrne and McCutcheon on the Irish Legal System (5th edition, 2009) and of the Annual Review of Irish Law series. He is also the author of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Law in Ireland (2nd edition, 2008). He was editor of the Irish Law Times from 1995 to 2000 and a member of the Board of the Irish National Accreditation Board from 2000 to 2003. He was chair of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties from 1990 to 1991.
Claire Bruton is a barrister based at the Four Courts Dublin specialising in employment law. She acts for employees and employee clients in a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters and appears regularly before the employment tribunals and courts in Ireland. She is editor of the Employment Law Reports and Irish Employment Law Journal. She is the co-author of The Irish Legal System (2009) and is currently working on a book entitled Employment Equality Law to be published by Round Hall Press shortly. Claire has lectured in law at Trinity College Dublin and Griffith College Dublin. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, the London School of Economics and Kings Inns.
