Cancer: 3 Days to Live
Sonny Bennett could have died back in 1998. This is his story of living, not just surviving. From the time we found out about the cancer to until the time Dad died, we had received the wonderful gift of time from God. With a strong will, prayer, a change in lifestyle, and modern medicine, my father was able to beat cancer for twelve years. He worked with me at our pawnshop for two years side-by-side. Five days a week, I spent time talking with Dad about everything. That time was worth all the money in the world to me. Good times, hard times and life. We were close. My daughter and her husband have a wonderful, little boy named Chase, and since the time of this writing, have had two lovely daughters, Kailee and Aubree. Wish he could have seen them come into this world. My dad was so proud of his first and only great-grandson. Chase and my father would pick veggies and berries in the garden. That time of my Dad's life was the happiest I had ever seen him. His face glowed with excitement when Chase would visit. I thank God for the extra time that my Dad was able to spend with his family. Although I could write a book of the good times we had in those last years, I will let my father tell his own story.
