Mr. Geo, the traveling geography teacher, is back. He is waving the original flag of our country as he reminds readers that Virginia was the first colony established in what would become the U.S.A. He then proceeds to points of interest including the parade of Tall Ships at the Norfolk Harborfest, the sculpture of Neptune at Virginia Beach, and the wild ponies in Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge before proceeding to sites of historical interest. He explains some of the early history of Jamestown mentioning specifically the help provided by Native Americans. He continues on to Colonial Williamsburg, the Yorktown Victory Center, Mount Vernon, and Monticello. A brief mention is made of Africans brought to the state as slaves and of the Civil War. Mr. Geo hikes through the Shenandoah Valley before accompanying miners to the dark tunnels of a coal mine. In Washington, D.C., he points out the White House, the Congress, the Supreme Court, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Smithsonian.
